Frank Cuesta announces he is leaving Thailand and the Sanctuary: "I may end up in jail"

Herpetologist Frank Cuesta has announced that he is forced to leave Thailand and his precious Libertad Sanctuary due to three criminal complaints filed against him by his ex-wife and mother of his three children, Yuyee, accusing him of tax fraud, illegal work, damage to her reputation and illegal actions with the animals at the sanctuary.
"There will be several changes at the sanctuary because of the legal issues," said Cuesta, who has three children with Yuyee and who was the person most responsible for her release and care, after she was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 15 years in prison, of which she spent 6 in prison.
"We have been preparing everything for days in case drastic changes have to be made. I am not going to leave the animals alone and they are not going to leave here ," explained Cuesta, who affirmed that the most viable solution is to leave Thailand, despite which the Libertad Sanctuary will continue to operate.
"We are preparing a team of supervised people, local people, accustomed to working with animals. One person will come every week to supervise everything. There will be people to feed the animals, to take care of them ," he explained, assuring that his son Zorro will continue to carry out work on the site.
"The decision I have made on how I am going to maintain the sanctuary will probably have to be made from outside Thailand. We will see it as events unfold and with various possible scenarios ," he said, making it clear that "the Sanctuary was made so that the animals can live in good conditions," "whether I am there or not," he added.
"If I'm not in Thailand, I'll probably continue doing live broadcasts with cameras. There's a chance I'll end up in jail, I'll be expelled, and I might reach an agreement to avoid problems and leave Thailand," he said, as his ex-wife's greatest obsession is to keep him out of the country.
Yuyee received 167,000 euros from Cuesta for the purchase of the land, after she blackmailed him into eviction . The land was paid for by Frank Cuesta, but as local law prevents a foreigner from owning land, it was put in Yuyee's name while they were still on good terms.
"The only way for the Sanctuary to continue to function with the animals is for me to leave, for me not to be here, even if I come back from time to time. Zorro will be in Thailand working for the sanctuary and I will leave and make money from outside to maintain the Sanctuary," explained Cuesta during one of his "last walks" through the place.
" For me, the triumph is having created this Sanctuary, this is a triumphalist video," he said in conclusion.
